Wow thanks for sharing! I’ve not forgotten your suggestion that we need coordinated theology and good preaching to counter current things! I think at that conference at Notre Dame with Drew Strait you talk about preaching through Mark. Yes!
As an academic, I checked this fact and it's true. Thanks for this powerful word about the Word made flesh in humility to offer being remade in his image to humanity!
The first 2 times I preach this I will credit you, Matthew. lol... after that, I'm going to pretend like I found this out myself. lol... you know how preachers do
Powerful stuff Matt - thank you. Whenever you preach, I find myself learning new insights, but also hearing the echo of the same Spirit in my heart and soul. This is absolutely what is needed in the church today. It is what I am laboring for as well, in my own simple ways... Thanks again man.
I’m convinced at this point that the authentic Christian Church been pushed to the fringes, outside of and beyond the majority of evangelical church buildings. Where the true church always done its holiest work. THAT Church—the one that still washes feet, shelters the stranger, and bears quiet witness to grace—has never stopped. THAT’s what I want to be a part of.
I recently wrote about an elderly saint I met who embodied that light on the margins. She reminded me that faith doesn’t need a platform to be powerful—it needs only presence, humility, and love. It’s because of people like her--Betty--that I still believe. Here are my reflections for anybody interested....
This is powerful. Thank you for sharing it.
